Step 1: Make it safe
Fire: If anything is burning, call 911 and get everyone out. We're a restoration service, not a fire department. We come in after the fire is out and officials have released the home.
Water: Shut off the main water valve if it's safe. It's often in a ground box near the street, in the garage, or where the line enters the house. Find yours today.
Electricity: Turn off power to wet rooms at the breaker. Don't walk through standing water near outlets or cords.
Storm: Stay away from downed power lines, and don't climb onto a wet or damaged roof.
Step 2: Document before you clean
Take photos and video of everything before items are moved: ceilings, walls, floors, furniture and the source of the problem. Save receipts if you buy supplies.
Step 3: Call for the right service
Water damage. Water damage restoration means extraction, moisture mapping, structural drying and repairs. A leak from a washer hose or water heater can reach drywall and baseboards in a few hours, so drying should start fast.
Fire and smoke damage. Even a small stovetop fire can leave soot and odor throughout a home. Fire and smoke damage restoration includes soot cleanup, deodorization, contents cleaning and repairs.
Mold. If you notice a musty smell after a leak, don't ignore it. Mold remediation covers inspection, containment, removal and prevention, following Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) mold rules. Assessment and remediation are done by separate licensed parties where required.
Storm damage. North Texas spring storms bring hail and wind. Storm damage restoration provides roof tarping, board-up, water removal and repairs.
Step 4: Decide on insurance
Not every loss calls for a claim, and we can't tell you whether to file. We can inspect the damage and explain what restoration involves so you can decide. If you do use insurance, we work directly with your insurance company on billing, and you're responsible for your deductible.
Why speed matters in a newer home
Newer homes are built tight for energy efficiency, which is great for your utility bill but can also slow drying once water gets inside a wall. Our team is available 24/7 and usually arrives on-site within about 45 minutes, and our IICRC-certified technicians start drying before the damage spreads.
